A few things you need to know for your stay
A few useful things to know before arriving at Tula Karoo. If there's anything else you'd like to ask, Roelien is always happy to help.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is from 14:00 and check-out is by 10:00. If you need different times, please contact us in advance and we'll accommodate you where possible.
How many guests can Tula Karoo accommodate?
Tula Karoo sleeps four guests in two bedrooms. Each bedroom has two single beds, with electric blankets, warm duvets and extra blankets for Sutherland's colder nights.
Is Tula Karoo suitable for families?
Yes. Tula Karoo sleeps up to four guests and is a comfortable base for families wanting to explore Sutherland and the surrounding Karoo.
What should we bring?
Tula Karoo is well equipped for a comfortable self-catering stay. We provide fresh towels, body wash, shampoo, coffee, tea, sugar and milk, as well as a welcome supply of wood, firelighters and matches.
Bring your own food and drinks, and remember warm clothing for Sutherland's cold evenings — especially if you're planning to go stargazing.
Is Tula Karoo pet friendly?
Yes, well-behaved pets are welcome by arrangement. We ask that pets are kept off the furniture and beds, and that owners clean up after them.
Do you have WiFi?
Yes. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout Tula Karoo.
Does Tula Karoo have heating?
Yes. The traditional wood-burning stove keeps the living area warm and cosy on cold Sutherland evenings. All four beds also have electric blankets, with warm duvets and extra blankets provided.
What cooking facilities are available?
The self-catering kitchen has an induction hob, an electric stove, pots, pans and the everyday equipment you need to prepare meals. You can also cook on the traditional wood-burning stove or use the stone braai outside.
What outdoor facilities are there?
There is a stone braai just outside the kitchen and a covered front stoep with a bench — lovely places to enjoy the fresh Karoo air. A braai grid is provided, but guests should bring their own camping chairs if they would like additional outdoor seating.
Do you have parking?
Yes. Secure off-street parking is available at the cottage.
Do you have a bath and a shower?
Yes. The bathroom has both a bath and a separate shower. Fresh towels, body wash and shampoo are provided.
How do I use the wood-burning stove?
The traditional Dover stove is straightforward to use once you get it going. Wood, firelighters and matches are provided to get you started, and simple instructions are available at the cottage.
Please take care around the stove as it becomes very hot.
Is anything provided when we arrive?
Yes. We provide a small welcome pack with coffee, tea, sugar and milk, as well as a bag of wood, firelighters and matches for the wood-burning stove.
